Today we read and discussed the Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel. Here are links to two version of it:
Version #1
Version #2
We talked about which section of the Declaration was most important at the time.
For next week, please answer this question:
Which section of the Declaration is most important to Israel today? Which section is most problematic? Why?
"THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open to the immigration..." is the most important part today because it's the only part of the declaration that was written for the long run. The rest of the declaration was written for the moment.
ReplyDelete"With trust in almighty G-d..." is the most problematic part of the declaration because in my opinion, there should be a separation between church and state.
Exiled from Palestine, the Jewish people remained faithful to it in all the countries of their

With trust in Almighty God, we set our hand to this Declaration, at this Session of the Provisional
State Council, in the city of Tel Aviv, on this Sabbath eve, the fifth of Iyar, 5708, the fourteenth day of
May, 1948: because it uses the word god.
i believe the portion of which it talks about the Holocaust is still very important today. This is because the Israelis are stating that we survived this horrible act and came out stronger than ever. That clearly defines the Israelis attitude and was a key role in declaring the state of Israel.
